I have 4Media DVD Ripper for mac, v4

I only want to import my own movies I have originally recorded onto VHS, transferred to DVD, and now import them into iMovie '08 (v7)

Handbrake is much simpler, but DVD Ripper seems to be a better option, reading some web reviews etc.

However, there are so many conversion output format choices on Profile.

Any suggestions as to which is best for import into iMovie ?

Ignore the blue highlights, that's just where my cursor was on image capture, I think the tick Apple h264 is the best one, agree ?

This is worth a try to avoid a round of transcoding and quality loss.

Tried this method of Disc Utility importing previously, didn't work every time, wierd aspect ratio depending on source material, and crashes sometimes.

Handbrake & DVD Ripper more stable.

I think no matter which setting you use in handbrake, iMovie will have to re-encode resulting in quality loss. The handbrake devs don't consider handbrake a proper tool for this.

I've discovered I can do this in Toast 9 too.

Who's tried all three ?
