My Entourage 2008 inbox shows 1 unread message although there are none. I have rebuilt and compacted the database and restarted the Mac. In the past a restart cleared this.
I assume you worked all the way back to the earliest entry in your inbox... I've gotten "pre-dated" emails in the past-they were somehow delayed in delivery or something-making them show up way down in my ordered-by-received-date inbox.
Build a custom search for Unread items if you don't already have that search option pre-configured in Entourage. You'll be able to spot it easily this way in case it's hiding in a place you didn't look.
Thanks C.W.... There was a message that was old but oddly, not in any folder - it was an orphan. I verified and rebuilt the database after deleting it.
