Ok, I'll try to be as clear as possible, but if something doesn't make sense please ask.
I bought an iMac the other day, but at the moment I have all my music on my old Dell. So what I've done is copied all my music from where iTunes stored music on the Dell, and copied it to my external hard drive. What I want to do is keep all my music on there, and not clog up my new computer with music. So what I want to do in a nutshell is play iTunes on the new computer, but have all the music stored on the external hard drive. I thought all I would have to do is in the iTunes preference menu, under advanced, tell iTunes that the music is stored on the external HD but that doesn't do anything.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I realised all I had to do was drag the songs into iTunes. All fixed
