A colleague of mine is working on a project where multiple sets of 2 images need to be joined to one image (eg: 2 photos joined to one canvas) he has created a photoshop action that will do the joining, the question is does anyone know of a mac application or script that will separate out sequential images in a folder into groups or subfolders - images 1 and 2 in folder a, images 3 and 4 in folder b and so on. We have surmised that the best way to accomplish this project is to make the action into a droplet and drop a master folder onto it.

Folder splitter might be able to do this, but I'm not sure. Freeware, so give it a spin.

Applescript will do it, or I should say you can do it with applescript.
