Is there anyway to link a file to more than one folder without having to save it to each folder individually?
e.g. an invoice for an ipod could be linked to my finance folder and my apple stuff folder.

I'm thinking of an application that has the same function as googlemail labels.

Any suggestions would be great!

Use aliases. You can have any number of aliases of a file, and opening any of them just opens the original file. To make one, you can either select the file and choose "Make Alias" from the File menu, or you can hold in the option and command keys while you're dragging the file.

Thanks so much!

I was sure there must be a logical way to do it, but after searching the Apple site and others for a while I just hadn't found anything.

I've just tried it and it does what I wanted.

It's not quite as user friendly as the labels function but I guess you can't have everything!

Even better, make hard links so that you can delete any copy of the file and still keep the others. With aliases (shortcuts), deleting the original file location will render all the aliases useless.
