Any recommendations for a simple & cheap application that I can use to mark up/annotate photos?

What kind of marks or annotations do you want to make on photos? Have you looked at any of the following:

Acorn
Pixelmator
Seashore
Gimp

If you go to MacHeist by April 7, 2009 (or so), you can get Acorn plus a BUNCH of other useful and good programs for $39.

Opensourcemac.org is a good source of free stuff to get things done.

I usually but the MacHeist promo even if I don't think I need something because it's such a good deal. Then i discover 1PassWord, CoverSutra, iVolume, Pixelmator, etc. and use it daily. It's like buying a soundtrack, you'll find new songs you'll love.
