I know this may seem like a dumb question, but I cannot find the answer in Intego's info: does the VirusBarrier app have to be running for real time virus scanning to continue? Even if I quit VirusBarrier, I still have the option in the Intego menubar icon to "Disable Real Time Scanner", which sounds to me as if real time scanning is still active. Is this correct?

You can download the EICAR virus test file. If it's detected, then real time scanning is working.

That's reassuring...I too wasn't sure VirusBarrier (which I got free as part of MUPromo I think) was working. I know..."Macs don't need AV..." but that complacency is all that first successful virus need to own 99% of Macs.
