Maybe I'm missing something. I ran the System Image Utility from the 10.5 Server Admin Tools and it was completely different from the 10.4 version. It's all Automatorized. The "sources" section doesn't show anything, and I could figure out how to get a source in there.

I have an iBook with 10.4.11 and I wanted to make a NetInstall image. Ever since I upgraded to 10.5, PowerPC based Macs stopped being able to netboot. I thought maybe this had something to do with NetRestore, so I wanted to try using Apple's own utilities.

However, I can't seem to figure out how to make a NetInstall of a 10.4 system using the 10.5 Image Utility. Do I need to install the 10.4 version to do this? Seems backwards.

Just got an email back from our rep. In case anyone else was wondering, the answer is no. You can't make 10.4 NetInstall sets using 10.5 utilities, nor can you use 10.4 tools on a 10.5 machine.

You shouldn't have a problem NetBooting PPC Macs with a NetInstall set created with the latest NetRestore. I NetBooted a mixed group of iMac G5s, PM G5s, and Intel iMacs from the same NetInstall set created by NRH.

I'm using DeployStudio now that NetRestore is dead and I can still NetBoot a mix of machines with the same NetInstall set created by DeployStudio.

I'm having continued problems getting iBook G4s to netboot. They just won't work. Worked fine on 10.4 Server.

I've never heard of DeployStudio. I'll give that a try.
