Am very, VERY tired of using Entourage on my work MacBook Pro to connect to our Exchange 2003 server. I just don't like it. Am forced to use it, though, because setting up an Exchange or IMAP account through Mail.app simply doesn't work right.

My main beefs:

--When I delete an email (whether the account in Mail is set up as either IMAP or Exchange), it isn't instantly and sometimes never deleted on the server. So when I move to another computer or open up Mobile Mail on my iPhone, that email I *thought* I deleted in Mail off the Exchange server still shows up. I've tried all the settings in Mail-->Preferences, and nothing works. Delete when quitting, delete after one day, etc. etc. etc. Nothing works.

--My *BIGGEST* problem is that I have a few key folders that I set up on the Exchange server that simply WILL NOT SHOW UP in Mail. I've tried "Synchronize Account," using the "Get Account Info" command and trying to manage subscriptions, deleted both an IMAP and Exchange connection to the account & started over, and nothing works. I just don't get why these folders will not show up in Mail; they're fine if I use OWA or Entourage (and obviously any PeeCee), but Mail just simply won't find these folders on the server.

Has anyone else had these issues? I'm looking for tips/tricks/etc.

TIA...

I would suggest looking at other mail alternatives. OS X Mail is an extremely quirky and often bad behaving IMAP client. These problems are probably not fixable by you or any of us.

I don't have any problems using Mail with my work's Exchange 2003 email.

In that case, have you tried rebuilding your Mailbox, original poster? This is some weird hacky fix/feature that Apple provided that may help in this case...

Yes, I should've mentioned that, I forgot that one...yep, tried the rebuild, no dice.

I've tried Postbox as another email client, it's..."okay." It's just not as elegant as Mail is (for me).

What I'm going to do is make new folders with different names on the Exchange server, move all the messages in the folders that won't sync over to these new folders, and see if that works.

Thanks everyone...will keep trying.

Yeah, I did what you told me (thanks for the tip), but I still don't get the reply arrow once I move the replied message into a folder under IMAP Gmail. It is curious that while the message is sitting in the Inbox, the arrow is there, but as long as I move it into an IMAP Gmail folder, the arrow is gone...

Is there a non-Gmail guide to configuring Mail for IMAP Gmail? I may have something wrong, though everything else is working fine.
Thanks.
