why won't Safari Public Beta security update take?

I have OS X 10.4.11 and keep getting notices of a Safari Public Beta 4.0 (191mb) security update being available. I have supposedly downloaded and installed this update four times. Each time all indications are that it installs correctly and completely, but when I do another check for updates there it is again available for download like I've never installed it.

I have never had this happen before with any update. Any ideas?????

What specific version/build is it? The current version is 5528.17 but that is only compatible with OS X 10.5.7.

I have the same issue. I'm on 10.4.11 and the Safari build it's stuck at is 4528.17. It keep redownloading, reboting, but never taking. Any luck?

Grab it directly from Apple. Apple - Safari - Download Safari - Download the world’s fastest and most innovative browser for Mac and PC

However, try this: download, use the uninstaller to uninstall Safari 4, then use it again to install Safari 4.
