Increasingly I get spam to my mailbox that has a different address on it.

Is this a new trick, where a wrong mailing address is used, and the spam is delivered to ALL mailboxes?

It's usually the lowest kind of spam. I never open it because of possible viruses, but the title alone...

Has anybody else experienced this?

PS: it regards my gmail account.

I don't know about the lowest kind of spam, but it is certainly the most stupid spam... they expect me to open an unsolicited e-mail that isn't even addressed to me? Don't insult my intelligence that much and put at least a teensy bit of effort into trying to fool me into opening your rubbish!

I get stuff sent to addresses that are "close" to mine through Yahoo. Fortunately Yahoo's spam filter is pretty good about catching them, so I see them just before they are flushed. But it's a pain.

I get stuff addressed to besson4c, and then I laugh at the spammer saying out loud "hah hah... close, but no cigar! You can't fool me!"

Sometimes I feel like crying out "you can't catch the gingerbread man", but I usually realize that that doesn't make much sense.

The penis enlargement ones usually fool me though, because I have a small penis and I don't know how anybody could know that!

That would explain all of the valve oil ads I see in those penis enlargement ads. All this time I thought that the valve oil was supposed to provide a little lube for, you know...

In case that last message was a little too vague, I meant my penis!

Learn the code for writing a SIEVE filter.
Then you can block the whole world if you wanted to. SIEVE gives you a ridiculous amount of control, but you need to learn the programming... well, code, it's not really a language, since it's just a set of rules that you can customize.
I use it with my FastMail web account... but lately I've been getting lots of those Phishing SOBs getting through my filter. I forward it to all the abuse departments I know exist.

sieve rules only work on IMAP servers that support sieve filtering. With some mail servers you'll have to use Maildrop or Procmail rules.

I never open any spam. I just wonder who does, because spam seems to increase every year.

Probably no one opens spam.

Spam is just by people who have no idea about marketing and who pay other people for the promise of marketing.

Or maybe there is no reason why it exists at all. Just an error of history. Like the evolution gave as the mosquito and the cockroach.

Or it's all coming from Osama Bin Laden.
