I've just totaled up the number of stations: 3,979
Wow. When iTunes was first launched there was only a handful, certainly less than 100.
I had no idea there were so many to choose from. And there are lots of different genres.
Someday I think we will have HDTV stations available in a similar fashion over the Internet-(the next gen Internet that is). U-Verse is a step in this direction as U-Verse is a huge WAN with every subscriber having their own LAN.
I think it's a matter of bandwidth (which will come eventually) and a way to make this attractive to video providers.
