Hi guys,

My girlfriend has decided we must have a cat but the very idea of leaving it alone while we go to work fills her with fear.

So I've suggested we get her macbook and set it up as a web cam on one of my servers so she/we can check up on him.

But I'm not sure what web cam software would be best and is there any web cam software which would allow us to connect and talk to the cat via microphone?

Thanks guys.

Does skype have an auto-answer option? If so, you could set it up to auto-answer, which would also toggle it to video chat mode. Then you could watch your cat and talk to it as well, assuming it was in the same room with your macbook. However my cat has never been interested in human images on video chat, so don't expect it to obey your remote commands.

Uhhh, it's a cat. It'll be fine on its own. If your GF can't deal with this fact, then she's not ready to get a pet.
