Yes actually there are ways to speed it up. do some net searches. enable bigger tiles plug in. remove plug-ins for file extensions you will never need, or at least disable them. There are a few others to add from the install disc that will speed it up. Also look at your preferences, are you allowing photoshop to use enough RAM. Allow it to use more and don't run other programs while using it, except what you really need at the time. I find Photoshop CS4 runs pretty fast on my iMac with 4GB RAM, especially after I changed around some plug ins, and played around with the preferences.
