Entourage 2008 Contact categories no longer assigned to incoming emails

I just upgraded from Entourage 2004 to Entourage 2008.

In Entourage 2004, the categories assigned to a person in my Contacts were also assigned to any incoming emails from that person.

After the upgrade to Entourage 2008, this no longer occurs. The box enabling this option in the Entourage Preferences is checked.

Any suggestions for fixing this would be welcome.
