Hey Guys
I was hoping to get some very much needed advice.
I currently use multiple email accounts through Entourage. I have a work account, a personal account, a personal business account and a random anonymous account. So in total, 4 accounts.
When I compose an email, I select an email in the FROM field. This determines the email account from which that email comes from. However, sometimes (I think that this is particularly when I use the send later function (I think, but can't be sure)), Entourage simply ignores which email account I chose for the email to be FROM and selects a random email and sends it from that account. It may even put the right NAME of the email account but send it from an alternate email address. So for example, let's say that I have 3 accounts:
- Bob@loveme.com - name on the email is 'Bob Tan'
- Bob@bank.com - name on the email is 'Uncle Bob'
- Robert@googlemail.com - name on the email is 'Robert Tan'
What happens on a random basis is that I'll send an email from the Bob@bank.com account and the recipient will receive an email from 'Uncle Bob' BUT from the email address Robert@googlemail.com. This confusion happens across my email accounts.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone know how to fix it?
This is frustrating me so much that I am considering moving from Entourage to Mac. ANyone have any ideas on this... or if no one does, any good alternative forums to post on to ask?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Jim

Are you confirming with the receiver that it's coming from the wrong email account? Have you checked your sent items folder or mailbox to confirm this yourself?
Steve
P.S. I hope those aren't real email addresses or you're going to get spammed. I can edit your message for you, if you'd like, to hide them.

Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply.
Haha - no they are not real but thanks for the warning!
Yes - I have checked with my friends and in alternate email accounts. It is definitely coming from the wrong email - 100% confirmed. It has in fact been happening on a random basis for over a few months What should I do? I am out of options and in a stage of utter desperation.
Any further thoughts or advice would be great. I am really thiking of just switching to Apple Mail. It seems that that program has almost all the necessary functions (or at least the functions that Entourage has). The lack of the 'send later' button can also I found be compensated in Apple Mail by disabling the accounts. When you send, it just goes in the outbox, which is what I need.
However, I would LOVE to know a solution to this Entourage problem if anyone knows...
Thanks all
J

I gave up on trying to figure out Entourage long ago. I would only use it to access an Exchange server, which I was doing at work, until they upgraded and it no longer worked. Now I'm using Outlook through Parallels. But all my personal mail is through Mail and MobileMe web mail. Since it doesn't look like you need to access an Exchange account, I'd just switch to Mail.

I have 10 accounts running in Entourage. While I don't use "send later," I've never had any "mixed up account" issues. No real mail issues at all, in fact.
