I recently moved from my old PowerBook to a new MacBook Pro but when I tried opening Fireworks 8 on the new Mac, I realized I couldn't find the serial number. I thought I would've registered the app but couldn't find it on the Adobe website.
Any way to find it on the old PB? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Good question. That can be annoying if you forget to record the number or misplace it.

Just thought I'd try one more time to see if anyone else has any ideas.
Thanks!

open fireworks on the old PB. Older Adobe apps usually show the serial number in the startup screen. Although CS3 stopped doing this.
If you can scribble quickly you should be able to write it down as the app starts up.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, after trying it a few times, I could find it.

If it's not in the startup screen, try going to "About Fireworks..." after the app is running. The serial number should be on the screen that pops up.

Thanks again. I didn't see it there, either, just a list of developers. Bizarre.

Ok. Last try...
Go to HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe. There should be a file called Adobe Registration Database. Open it in TextEdit. This contains all of your Adobe serial numbers.
Of course, I did this on my old 10.3.9 system. Hopefully things haven't changed too much and that path is still valid.

I found a "Licensing" folder in the "Macromedia" folder (in Application Support) but the two files in there were .mlf files which weren't readable in Text Edit.
Fortunately, FW isn't a critical app -- I mainly use it to optimize photos for a blog and for creating some occasional graphics. I'm looking for alternatives (including online image editors) in case I can't find a solution.
Thanks again.
