Itunes was working fine and then yesterday I tried to add some new audible files I purchased and some mp3 music files from Emusic. I have used both sources in the past with no problem. But yesterday itunes would apparently load the audible files but it wouldn't play them and seems to lock up a bit. I also imported some mp3's and they did the same and froze up for a few seconds and then start to play some random audio(it was from various podcasts, I recognized some which I subscribe to, but the audio was from a show that I had deleted ). The audio length seemed random too, from just a few seconds to 10 minutes. I is the weirdest thing. I reset my computer and fixed permissions etc but it didn't help. The mp3's play just fine in Quickplayer and in finder. They just won't import correctly. Anyone have any ideas.

Did you verify the hard drive? (not just permissions?)

something is messing with the structure of data on your drive.

It's either a corrupted directory or failure to correctly grab data. The former can be the result of a nasty crash, but either can indicate a failing drive.
