A public domain song I could only find on YouTube (Doris Day). Need to rip audio in .mp3 for a funeral. Tried ffmpeg, Audio Hijack and Handbrake.

Any ideas?

I don't think there are any public domain songs by Doris Day.

Get it from iTunes or Amazon.

Thanks Cold Warrior, Get Tube worked very nicely.

Prior to your suggestion I found another way using TubeTV, but the process was a tad complex.

I had to I use TubeTV to rip the video, save it on my disk as an .MP4 file. Then open the MP4 file in QuickTime Pro -- extract the audio, then export the audio as an AIFF file. Open the AIFF file in iTunes and then compress as MP3.

But your Get Tube is definitely the way to go.

Tetenal, the song in question by Doris Day (My Buddy) is a remake of a 1922 song by Henry Burr. Am I wrong thinking it's public domain? Just wondering.

Unlikely to be public domain, thanks to some Mickey Mouse laws (and legislators).

Nothing after WWI is likely to be in the public domain.

I was led to believe that after 50 years, a musical composition automatically became public domain.

Granted, maybe Doris Day's version of 'My Buddy' is not 50 years old... But the song is.

And then again I'm Canadian, it's a fawcked up situation here where copyrights are concerned.

Anyway, I opted to download the 1922 version from Henry Burr, just in case I cross the border with my iPod.

: )

Disney must not own the government up there the way they do down here. In the US, every time the original Mickey Mouse cartoons start getting close to becoming public domain, the government conveniently extends the length of the copyright law.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
