I tried the beta for Carbonite months ago and uninstalled it using their uninstaller. I was in Console trying to fix a problem with Spotlight running for days and days trying to index my drive since I updated to 10.6. I notice that there is an error message in Console that Carbonite was trying to find a file ??? I looked in my Library under Launchdaemons, Prefpanes, Startup Items but I cant find anything... where else can it be hiding?

Could it be powered by a kext by chance?

this thread recommends looking in the lauchd plist file to remove carbonite's executable and data paths.

This blog also provides many items to hunt down and delete:

Is there a program I can get to look for all traces of an uninstalled program and delete them? This is just freaky....
