I have a dell wfp2408 running off my macbook pro. The colors have super saturated since I got it, but I haven't used it a ton up until now, so it hasn't been much of an issue.

Now I'm using it more, and I wanna get it figured out. I know this display is known for being super bright, and I've heard that there's a utility that can reduce the brightness through software, more than just turning brightness down to 0 on the onscreen display. Does anyone know what it's called?

Thanks.

John

Have you tried adjusting the ColorSync profile (under APPLE-->System Preferences-->Displays-->Color)?

Have you tried just turning down the brightness using the controls on the monitor's front panel?

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Yep, I've spent hours trying to get this monitor to look like my cinema display or macbook pro screen, and I'm about ready to tear my hair out.

Yep, I've even tried creating color profiles using a Gretag Macbeth hardware calibrator, but still doesn't really do the trick.

Any advice on getting a dell wfp2408 to look more like a cinema display?

How about Shades, Brightness, Brightness Control, or DarkAdapted.

I didn't read too much on any of them and have no experience with any of them...just did a quick search on MacUpdate.com for "brightness" and got those (and more) hits.
