First a curse on the House of Gates! I have Office 2008,and Word is just the most unresponsive broken piece of SW I have encountered. But maybe someone here knows how to 'unfrieze' certain functions in Word. How do I get a visible cursor, that I can see when am moving it with arrow keys? Unless I specifically click once or twice on a location it's invisible, and it never blinks. Also word count and pages on the bottom are stuck somewhere before I had to restart the computer. Maybe I did something stupid without knowing it. I hope! Thanks

Yeah, you did: buying Office 2008 was a mistake. (sorry.)

the only thing I'm aware of to improve performance is to turn off live grammar checking. Useless, and performance killing.

Don't get me wrong: it is still complete and utter dog. But it's a little better.

Spheric H, thank you for your reply. No need to be sorry, I went in this eyes wide shut, I knew how bad it was, yet like many of us, needed the Windoze/Mac compatibility. Grammar checking has always been off, those green squiglies are so distracting, and mean little to me. And, Spell Check, which is on, doesn't work either, forgot to mention that in previous post.

Then I suggest you uninstall it and install WordStar.
