My first post, so please excuse any errors? I don't know if this is the correct place to post this query or if this question has been covered (ad infinitum) already, but I'm sure you will all put me right?
I compile lengthy presentations on Keynote but have one major problem. I usually begin each presentation with a musical introduction (as a background to a number of individual slides) - no problems there - but then I would like to end the same presentation (after fifty minutes or so) with another piece of music, again as a background to a different sequence of slides?
I cannot work out a way of doing it other than making a separate soundtrack with the correct period of silence in the middle and this, of course, is extremely difficult to time correctly.
On a completely different tack does anyone know of any software available to enhance or advance Keynote in any way?
Any assistance much appreciated and apologies for such a lengthy initial enquiry.

I am amazed that nobody has offered a solution to this problem ... from such a bevy of knowledgeable Mac users and Keynote enthusiasts? Is there any way to cease a presentation on a certain slide and then start a totally different section of the same presentation on the next slide, thereby enabling a new piece of background music to be added in Media? I HAVE to find a solution to this problem before the start of 2010 ... your very kind assistance would be most gratefully received.

Have you watched this tutorial? Adding audio to Keynote

It shows how to add background audio pieces to selected slides or individual slides, seems quite easy after watching the tutorial.

Many thanks for your kind assistance Andy, but this doesn't solve my problem. I can start a piece of music that will cover say twenty slides at the beginning of a presentation, but nothing in the Keynote demonstration will show me how to do the same at another designated point in the same presentation. The lesson shows how to add a snippet of sound to a SINGLE slide, but this will not cover a sequence of slides which is what I need. Sorry to be so pedantic but it is unbelievably frustrating.
Kind regards and thanks once again for trying.
