I am using iPhoto 09 and have selected a photo album to put into a book and am going to the option called Book at the bottom of the screen and then the selection at the top for Book Type. I have options such as hard cover, soft cover, and wire-bound software. The problem is they are all greyed out.
Why is this? Do I have to somehow install these themes or book types? I have a photo album I have put together that I want to send to Apple to print. Thank you for your help.

You mean the book *sizes* are grayed out? I see in mine that the words "Hard Cover", "Soft Cover", and "Wire-bound softcover" are grayed out, but that's because you have to select a book size (large, extra large, etc.). Can you clarify exactly what is grayed out?

The book types are greyed out where I select the arrows next to Book Type. Where do I choose a book size? If I'm correct those should be in the white window to the left of the iphoto icon and above Options + Prices. Yet that is simply a blank window with no themes.

I'd try reinstalling iPhoto. Something is wrong there.

I tried reinstalling it and it's working fine now. I don't know what happened but something obviously went wrong with the install.
