Hello,

I rarely use iMovie but I have a need to hook it up to another output (a HDTV). I have the cables and that is all working.
I am trying to resolve the iMovie playback. From my tests, I have to move my menu bar over to the second output and then hit play in full screen to get it to work.

Anybody have a solution that may work to resolve this? I don't own Final Cut, so I can't use the option I hear it has to do this.

It sounds like you've resolved it fine. What's wrong with the solution you came up with?

The problem is just annoying to make the changes. I have to hook up the cables to the TV. Open system preferences, click detect displays and then drag the menubar over to the second monitor. It is a lot of work if there is some simple way to get it to just do the preview on a second output.

The playback will always be on the monitor with the menu bar. There's no way of getting around this. You could operate in mirrored mode instead of extended desktop.

That will work. It sure makes it much easier than trying to navigate the mouse on the 37" screen from across the room (I can't see the mouse unless I right click to get a menu).
