I'm just trying to access the "column" controls for text in Word. No Columns button appears in the toolbar, in Publishing layout view. Help, and various messages I have found, tell me to go to View> Customize Toolbars. There is no such choice under the View menu.

I have searched prefs, the entire menu, and the Help, all in vain.

I hope I am overlooking something simple!:

Curiouser & curiouser.

In the Outline view, and Draft view (and perhaps others) there is a View>Customize toolbars... option, but choosing it causes no result! no dialog box opens.

In Publishing Layout view, as I mentioned before, the View menu has no such choice.

Word 2008 changed my doc life completely! I've gotten so used to the way my menus were in the prior version. I've tried many, many times to set them up to what I was used to (menu-wise).

No go.

Why the drastic changes is quasi baffling, but I'm slowwwwly getting used to it. The menus are all over the place, and trying to configure them as they used to be seems like a moot mission.

I like Word for creating business cards. I've tried to switch to Pages but try and create cards with that; the instructions are too long for me to care.

I hear y'a.

In Word 2008 just go to the FORMAT menu and click on the COLUMNS submenu...
