I still have quite a few files in AIFF, especially classical music.

I am about to convert them to Apple Lossless, as the sound quality is the same.

Now, if I want to burn a CD, do I set the burn interface to "convert to AIFF"? And then the resulting disc will have the same sound quality as the original?

Or would you lose something in the conversion process?

In my understanding it's just a ZIP unZIP and even with some code errors caused by the drive there should be no audible difference even on good HiFi equipment.

What do you say?

The audio is mathematically identical.

Just tell iTunes to burn an "audio cd" and everything will be fine.
