I have lost part of a big video file (that I really really love) by accidentally trimming it with QuickTime Pro v.7.6.5, and I can't undo it. Apparently the data for the entire clip is still on my disk.

After searching as best as I could about this topic I found only this two posts with a solution (Hex file editor), but it did not work for me. I have no experience at all with such "file manipolation".
Any info or link will be very very much appreciated.

Here's your answer:

Grab a hex editor (I used Hex Fiend), do a search and replace for "free" and replace it with "moov". Worked like a charm for me.

After posting here I searched a bit more and found a link on the Apple discussion forum. Basically I downloaded a hex file editor and replaced the ASCII phrase "free" with "moov" (total of 5 replaced and found). And so far the file appears to play as normal..

fingers crossed.
Thanks for the suggestions though everyone.

Wow must be a very serious problem the one I have with this "trimming" feature of Quicktime Pro.
I did not get any reply ... c'mon I'm sure there is someone out there who has a cheap solution for me :-)

It is so easy in QT Pro to end up in this situation that I'm surprised not to find a LOT of people out there
who is/was in similar situation, and then many who found solution for it.
OK IT geeks and experts lets see who can find a solution first :-)

Thanx
