Anyone else having perf problems? Not just at home on my Mac, but also at work on an XP machine.

Very very high CPU usage, having to force quit from time to time. Windows machines needs a hard reboot (ctrl+alt+del doesn't work) after freezing.

I have the same issues as well. 300MB of ram usage at random, and CPU will go up 60% at random. On XP as well at work. No issues any of my Macs either.

I've pretty much given up on FF lately. It's asking too much of what my comp can give (see signature). And I'm seriously getting tired of having to switch browsers 2-3 times a year.

I refuse to having more than one browser on at the same time.

Chrome is very cool, but I can't play my favourite online chess game. FireFox is awesome but it sucks the energy. So it's back to Safari (for now), and so far all is good.

I've been hearing about this html5 lately. Is that going to settle things down once and forever?

I hope so.

Generally when FF is acting up, it's a badly coded extension.

HTML5 (yes, it's written like that - no .0, no space) is a new version of HTML, the language used to write webpages. The plan is to make a natural development of HTML 4.0 (the current version) by standardizing behaviour that has developed over the last decade and adding some new features. The plan is to get away from complicated Javascript libraries and Flash and use standardized code. It is written by WHAT-WG, a group that includes representatives from Mozilla, Opera, Apple and Google, and which was recently joined by a representative from Microsoft. It is currently in the process of releasing working documents for HTML5 and its components RDFa, Microdata and Canvas. That process has recently been held up over an objection from Adobe to the W3C.
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx
