I'm looking for a piece of software, or some nifty command line trickery to burn larger-than-dvd content across multiple disks (and preferably retrieve it later, too). A bit like StuffIt and floppy disks back in the day (youngsters, ignore this).

I'm paranoid enough about my backups to make sure I have at least one copy on non-magnetic media

Any tips or leads appreciated.

HJSplit or Split&Concat?

Unless you mean that the content on the DVDs has to be directly accessible from the DVD while it’s split up, of course …

Edit: Forget HJSplit, I’m talking nonsense. There’s no OS X version of HJSplit.

I found SimplyRAR to suit me best. I like the idea of using a well known standard, and another software (Stuffit) successfully expanded the whole archive by simply double clicking the first .rar file. Perfect, thanks.
