What do you mean by 'anything' ?. Ttransmit is a FTP client. If your purpose is to download apps, games, updates for those apps and games from the web, you better run a downloader manager like Speed Download as you were told by Oisín.

Sample of how Transmit can help you. Create a new favorite like this:

Now you can download the latest updates for Norton Antivirus for Mac. They are huge and I don't want to have to rely on a browser to get them. Besides that, Transmit can resume downloads.

Another one, the Logitech FTP server. If I happen to need an old version of their Mac software I know there they are available. Always. It is not that easy to find them over the web.

IMHO Transmit is the best FTP client available for the Mac and the newer Transmit 4 is even way cooler. But as happens with any tool, you have to have a need for it.

Now everyone, share your useful FTP resources.

I think you're trying to use a hammer to make coffee.

Are you sure Transmit is able to do what you want it to do ?
