Hi,

I just got my SlingBox Pro connected (cable over coaxial) and to start with, I already have encountered two problems... First was the terrible noise instead of any sound, but after a couple of hours of google'ing I managed to downgrade the firmware to 1.0.39, which solved the first problem.

So I can watch TV on my Mac using SlingPlayer 1.0.10.272, but I cannot change channels! I have tried it with a Windows client and channel switching works fine there. I tried changing various settings, reconfiguring the SlingBox, but nothing helped.

What I am thinking is that the current version of SlingPlayer is not compatible with the fairly old firmware. Thus I am wondering if anyone is in possession of some older version which I could try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't entirely understand why you downgraded the firmware. (I didn't even know that was possible on a Slingbox.) What's this "terrible noise" you are talking about?

And yes, the problem probably is that Slingplayer is not working with the older firmware.

Hi Steve,

The noise I was writing about is sort of a static - but that's all you can hear - no sound at all except for the static. I've found some threads on the Internet where people reported the same problem and the only solution advised was firmware downgrade (it's a real pain in the neck, as you have to either has the bin files with hex editor or use some very old SlingPlayer for Windows which does not complain about you attempting to downgrade the firmware).

So yeah, I'm stuck with single channel for now (but at least the sound works...). Do you have some previous releases of SlingPlayer for Mac, which I could give a try by any chance?
