I have a Gmail account, but I don't really use it all that often. However, I frequently email people who do and their emails always come out with some strange formatting on my end. With some people, I get something like this:
Code:
-----Original Message-----
From: someone [mailto:someone]
Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2010 10:06 PM
To: someone else
Subject: Blah
Here's the body of the email.
Neither Apple Mail nor Thunderbird recognize this as a quote, so it doesn't get colored (and it screws with my attempts to bottom-post, although Gmail isn't really suited for that anyway).
And then with some people I get something like this:
You can see the funny gray line that Gmail apparently uses to represent the quoted email. Again, neither Mail nor Thunderbird recognizes this as a quote, with the same consequences.
I sent myself test messages from my normal email account and my Gmail account and the quoting came out correctly, but I'm not sure what's different between my Gmail setup and everyone else's. What could be causing Gmail to quote like that?
