I was just recently given a football game film on a DVD-R disk and am wanting to create a mini highlight film from it. The problem is that I dont know how to save it the hard drive so I can somehow open it in Imovie to edit it.

Does anyone know how I can do this little process??

thanks in advance

Use Handbrake to convert it to MP4 (M4V) file. Then you can import it to iMovie.

It sucks to take another generation of quality erosion (since iMovie will convert the MP4 to Apple Intermediate) but since iMovie doesn't support MPEG2 you don't have a lot of easy options.

Apple Universal is a poor choice for this... it's to maintain compatibility with Apple's various retarded devices (iPod Classic needs some things disabled, Apple TV needs others, etc).

High Profile would be a good choice.

Yes, but in light of the OP's limited knowledge, it might be better for him just to stick with one preset that works most of the time, than specialized presets for different uses.
