Thunderbird fonts odd with update to 3.1.2

I just updated thunderbird to 3.1.2

I didnt pay close enough attention to the update panel and now have a 'typewriter-like' font in the right panel that views the message itself.

the other list of the messages has not changed its font.

is there a way to go back to the 'default' font on the view of the messages themselves?
