I'm really impressed with the 2 betas.
New features include more Mac UI stuff/compliance, a unified Inbox (like OS X Mail has), faster indexing, message sending in the background, and a whole host of other stuff.
Other features:
- Spotlight support
- Way, way, way faster and a better behaving IMAP client than OS X Mail in just about every way
- Facebook and Twitter integration (e.g. showing Facebook wall avatars in email messages)
- Great searching capabilities including easy searches for attachments and images
- Integrated calendar via Lightning (which you can use or ignore/disable) - to do, events, etc.
- Quick Look support
- iPhoto integration
- Support for assigning topics
- Conversation views
- PGP support via the Enigmail add-on
- Integrated RSS reader
- Multiple identity support
- Folder subscription support
- Account grouping support
Probably other stuff I'm missing. In short, if you are looking for a fast, advanced email client, check out the 2 betas!

What ever happened to that Letters project?
Neither supports Exchange 2010.

You mean, whatever Microsoft is calling their non-IMAP protocol? I'm sure both support Exchange over IMAP.

That may be true, but my Exchange Admins will not enable IMAP for Exchange, it's either MAPI, EWS, or bust.
Postbox still screams "I'm not a native Mac OS X application." I went ahead and checked after running it for a few seconds and, yep, it's just a skin on Thunderbird.

What version did you try?

Yeah, PB2 looks nice and seems 100% Mac-like, I'm just not ready to plop any money down until I see what Microsoft does to Exchange for Mac in Office 2011.

How about Postbox Express once based on the PB 2 UI changes, if not so already?

Is that a sentence? I think I know what you mean...PB2 is sweet and I'll give PB2 Express a chance once it's out. For now I do actually have PB2 beta 3 and PB1 Express installed to mess with...very nice.
Edit: How does PB's spam filtering compare to SpamSieve (which is unsupported in PB2 due to some changes in the plugin API vs in PB2).

Not sure what is wrong with the sentence but...
I don't know about SpamSieve, I catch most of my spam server side and don't have a spam problem in other PB 1 or 2.

Postbox 2 is out of beta now, definitely worth checking out and giving another shot if you thought that 1.x was not Mac-like enough...
Postbox — A Better Way to Do Email
Very solid release, the best email client for OS X hands down!

You can either try the 2.0 version for 30 days, buy it, or use Postbox Express:
Postbox Editions
I'm not sure if Express is based on Postbox 2, I haven't used it yet, so for evaluation purposes I would suggest trying 2.0 for 30 days.

Does it integrate with iCal.app for meeting invitations? They don't mention it on their site.

You mean for sending out the iCal invitations?

Sending and receiving and updating and canceling... you know, "integration."

I don't know if this was intended to sound pissy, but it kind of does.
I've never needed this sort of integration so I don't know, but I did find a knowledge base document from one of the Postbox guys about using PB to mail out iCal stuff, hence my question.
Postbox includes its own calendar system, sort of like Entourage. I guess this is a strike against it if you use iCal for managing invitations.
