I've been using ScreenCaptureGUI 2 since OSX 10.4 to do the occasional screen capture while using DVD Player. I'm now using 10.6 and ScreenCaptureGUI seems to be broken. I get the same blank image using it that you now get when trying to using command-shift-4. I guess this is a new present from 10.6. Anyway, can anyone recommend a screen capture app for DVD playback? I'm not trying to do anything fancy, just an occasional image so I'm really looking for a free app.

Play the DVD in VLC and just do a VLC screen cap?

You mean bypass DVD Player altogether? Never even considered that as an option.

Yup. VLC is what you need.

Yep. It works and it's free.
