I'm currently and iChat application user, but im thinking to change some friend are recommending to change iChat for Adium which is a multi IM app.
Have you ever try it?

Can anyone give me feedback on this?

I will appreciate any suggestion.

I don't know that Adium really has a rival anymore. There used to be Fire but I haven't seen much development on it in a while. And yes, Adium eats iChat's lunch.

The only downside to Adium is no video chatting (unless that’s been fixed since I last used it?). Apart from that, it’s much nicer and sleeker than iChat.

File transfers can also be problematic on Adium, but overall it's an excellent application.

That said, don't hold your breath for video. It's not available and unlikely to be available any time soon.

Fire stopped development a few years ago, and recommended everyone go to Adium. Adium added a Fire importer at the same time to help. If I recall correctly, Fire depended on libraries that were not going to be updated, and it would have taken a lot of work to migrate to supported libraries.

I use adium, but the lack of video really kills me. File transfers have definitely become more stable in the past few years.

FIle transfers for me in Adium are actually more reliable than in iChat. Adium is really good. The only downside (as mentioned) is no video chat. A potential downside if you're a MobileMe member is no encrypted chat like iChat.

Yep. Fire has basically gone away, but it looks like Proteus is stirring once again.
