Hello,
For several reasons (encryption - also on my backups, less physical files - therefore much faster backup etc.)
I moved the ~/Library/Mail directory into a sparsebundle und set a symbolic link from the new location to ~/Library/Mail.
The same I did for ~/Library/Mail Downloads.

Everything appeared to work fine but I just noticed that Mail.app can't search full text anymore.
Searching for mails with a specific content in the To, From and Subject Headers works though.

Also Spotlight doesn't suggest any mails.
So I'm afraid I missed something essential to move or configure but I can't see what.
Any clue what I could do about it?
Thanks a lot - Michael.

just in case somebody is interested in the solution:
The fact that Spotlight isn't presenting any findings as well gave me an idea.
In the Terminal I did a quick mdutil -s /Volumes/* and found the sparsebundle volume in question unlisted (which appears to be default for some good reason).
After issuing a mdutil -i on /Volumes/<myvolume>/ and many, many hours later Spotlight gave answers and after restarting Mail.app I also could find information by a full text search within the Mail-client.
Michael.
