I now can't count myself among those who contend that Apple doesn't occasionally do nice things for its loyal customers. I knew that my MobileMe renewal was coming up soon because I recently received the usual 30 days renewal email notice, but I also saw that it had not happened yet. Intrigued, I logged into my Account area to see when the renewal would occur. Incredibly, my account shows a renewal date in December and says that my membership has been extended for 32 days for free!
I can't account for why this extension has occurred. The only reference that I can find online to something similar is
this thirty day extension, but that happened all the way back in 2008. This is the first I've heard of Apple extending MM memberships, and I don't think I got any notice about it back in 2008. Anyone else get this unexpected pleasant surprise from Apple?
Thank you very much, Apple! It may be worth only a small amount in dollar terms, but this decades-long Apple fanatic is pleased. (Even if it turns out to be a way of softening the blow when most MM services go free again, like rumor sources are speculating may occur. Perhaps soon-to-expire accounts are getting extended past the expected announcement of yet another iTools/.Mac/MobileMe service change.)
