Apparently I'm not alone. A quick Google search shows that tons of people have the exact same problem.
Ever since I installed Adobe Reader 8, it's stopped printing. I installed Adobe Reader 9, still doesn't work. Reading the Adobe forums people say that Adobe is aware of the issue (since version 8) and are working on a fix. That was 3 years ago. We're now at version 9 and it's still broken.
I can't find a solution. Now I have teachers who've installed Adobe Reader 9 and it just stops printing. The only workaround is for them to save their reports to the desktop first, then open with Preview, then print from Preview. Preview doesn't always render the PDF correctly, and it's 3 extra steps for teachers to take just to print reports.
Anyone run into this problem? Have a solution?

Version 10 has been out for a few weeks. Does that work?
What errors are you getting when you try to print?

I installed version 10. Now instead of errors I don't get any errors, and it still doesn't print. It goes through the print process, spooling to the printer, etc. It appears s if it's printed, but nothing comes out of the printer. If I print the exact same PDF from Preview, it prints fine.
So I guess they fixed the errors.

This is very odd. Printing is one of those things that if it works in one app, it works in all of them. What exactly happens? You say it goes into the queue. Do you get any messages? Does the printer start and then stop?
On a side note, I've never seen Preview render a PDF differently or incorrectly compared to Reader, which I almost never use.
If it's that big an issue, I'd just uninstall Reader and use Preview for everything!

It's working almost exactly expected, except nothing comes out of the printer.

It screws up horribly when dealing with forms.

Then it won't open the PDF inside Firefox. :/

Many of those google search results appear to be PC users running Windows or Vista, so that might not be relevant to your issue.
You did not provide any details about your printer, but that is key. I once had some trouble printing to a Canon printer with Adobe Acrobat and the problem turned out to be an outdated driver for the printer, which was fixed by a quick download. This might not be your problem here but you did not indicate what your printer is or those details.
One clue that pointed me to the printer driver was that I had no problem printing on a variety of printers at work, but did have problems printing from Acrobat on my home printer, which needed the driver update.
