When i'm viewing photos in iPhoto, and i get to a movie file, it shows a movie control (play, rewind, etc.) at the center/bottom of the picture. My problem is that it's so far to the bottom and out of the view that i think it's a blurry picture and then i often delete movies by mistake.

Once a week i browse thru my photos and deleted blurry or unwanted pics. Movies files show as a picture as i just mentioned and tend to be blurry until you hit play (because it just shows the 1st frame) and since i don't see the play button when i'm browsing, i delete by mistake.

Apple should make it OBVIOUS that it's a movie file and not a picture.

Honestly, I can't see how you're missing the movie control. It's really quite large in my opinion.

There's a ten-pixel gray bar with a camera icon and a time across the bottom edge of every video. That's pretty "OBVIOUS" to me.

Create a new intelligent Album "Rating is <ooooo> (+) Photo is not Video". Then rate and trash through your photos inside this album.

Well, more obvious would be a big ol' play arrow in the middle, a la youtube.
