Recently, when I visit certain websites, a video section of a given page starts up automatically and unwanted. Sometimes the audio even continues when I change to an entirely different site. I can endure the video but not the audio, so end up quitting Safari in the latter case and rebooting it. One such site that always give me this trouble is <http://www.evertonfc.com/home/>. I reported the problem to them, but got no reply.
Any ideas how I can at least get the audio to stop? I use the latest Mac OS and Safari updates.

This happens to me occasionally with mp4 video.
Closing the window stops the audio for me.

If only you had a more advanced OS with per-app volume settings...

That wouldn't solve the problem that Safari continues to play audio even if you leave the page, would it?

Well, if you set Safari to mute, it would not be as annoying.

If you'd have to set Safari to mute every time it just continued to play audio after you were watching video, it would be just as annoying has having to press the mute button on the machine, and then having to unmute the next time you needed audio again.
