You need to set up a news account. Unfortunately, Microsoft has limited Entourage to access only Microsoft's news servers, so the utility of news groups in Entourage is limited.

Go to Entourage|Accounts, and click on the News tab. The program will walk you through the rest of the process.

As Glenn points out, Entourage is limited to Microsoft's own newsgroups.

If you are interested in accessing all newsgroups, you will need to use one of the stand-alone newsgroup apps for the Mac. A further complication will come, however, depending on your ISP. If you are with Comcast, you will have to subscribe to a separate (usually web-based) newsgroup service, since Comcast long-ago stopped providing customers with newsgroup access.

I have set up the account; how do I download the newsgroups? I can't find anything that directs me to that.

Most all ISPs don't support or offer newsgroups anymore. Basically, they're a relic of the past. Contact yours to make sure its even still an option.

Also, if you are going to upgrade to 10.7 Lion - Entourage won't work anymore as it is Power PC only.

Entourage is a Universal app and, from all accounts I've seen, works just fine in Lion.
