Greetings.
I am trying to create a bar graph with the proper labels for each bar.
I am not able to do so.
Let's say that I have a column of scores (for the horizontal axis) that goes
16
18
20
22
24
32
>32 (meaning, greater than 32)
and I want to plot the number of times that a person got this score (frequency on the vertical axis).
I can try to create an X-Y scatter plot, but then when I do,
[1] the data points between the 24 and 32 point scores are spread out too far, compared to, say, between 16 and 18, and
[2] I do not see an option to make them bars.
But at least the labels work.
When I try to plot the data in a bar chart, the X-axis is forced to label my entries as
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
and I see absolutely no way of changing that. I tried changing various options in the chart type, I've tried control-clicking in all sorts of places inside the generated chart (seems to be different wherever I click) and looked all over all possible combinations of options to set manual labels for the bars (such that bar 1 says 16, bar 2 says 18, ..., bar 7 says >32, as labels).
I've tried following tutorials that I could find online, but they seem to have additional options that I do not seem to be able to find in NeoOffice 3.1.2. I also do not seem to just magically have the bar labels be proper like in the other tutorials that show a preview of the bar chart between their Steps 1 and 2. I have tried searching through the NeoOffice forums with "bar chart" and thread as the keywords and search result criteria, but I got an error message when I went to page 2 out of 13. I tried searching through the MacNN forums, but did not find my answer. I also could not find any help in the general NeoOffice website search engine, and I did not see a way to force proper labels on my bars in my bar chart using the built-in NeoOffice Help. I have also emailed my advisor... he was unable to help me. I also emailed our campus' IT help center, and they were unable to help me.
Are you folks able to help me? This should be such a simple thing to fix but apparently no genius in the world knows how to do this...
