Easy Find reveals that I have dozens of Clam files: ClamAV, ClamXAV, and FireClam. I've been told that I don't need these files, but I can't find a way of getting rid of them. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Clam is a virus scanner under the GPL. It actually scans for Windows malware and Mac users install it to be good netizens and avoid sending malware to Windows users.

If you want to remove everything, download ClamXAV, open the disk image you've downloaded and launch the Uninstaller.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it didn't work. I used the uninstaller, but according to Easy Find, there are still endless number of clam files left.

Are you saying that if you select the clams, and do command-delete, they don't get trashed? Where do they reside, as in what folder? If you get info on that folder what does it say in terms of how many, and permissions? Are the latter locked? If yes, unlock them, you'll need to log in as admin and enter your password to do that. And does the number of clams change during a six hour period? If yes, meaning they are proliferating, the original program is still running. Check in the App folder, and the Utilities subfolder for it and if it's still there, manually drag to trash, which is easier if you go down to thew bottom of the colorful display and click on 'Show in Finder'.

Thanks to those of you who replied. I've managed to get rid of Clam, and it was, I think, a question of permissions.
