Dear readers
A customer of mine as a silly problem with a Power Point document, made on Windows which uses Arial font.
On her Mac Book with Lion, one specific file won't show all text which is Arial. If I open the same document on my Laptop with Lion and MS Office 2011 as well, I don't have that problem.
I did delete the local Cache folder but without any success.
Does anyone have an idea which files and folders regarding Fonts and MS Office Power Point are involved and should be deleted as well? I did delete all preference files with powerpoint in there names.
Thank you for anyones replay and suggestions.
Regards
Thomas Thaler

I don't understand. Do you mean a specific *slide* doesn't work for her or is it an entire presentation that doesn't work? And when you say "won't show all text" what do you mean?
Can you explain a bit better about exactly what's going on? A Powerpoint file should appear perfectly fine in either the Mac or Windows version of Powerpoint. I don't know what caches you are deleting, but I wouldn't mess with that.

Arial is supplied with both computer systems AFAIK, and unless she has purposely deleted it, should be no problem.
Is she running any font utilities (Suitcase, etc?)

Arial is installed with Microsoft Office. It does not come with the Mac.
Is it possible that there is a font conflict? Check the Fonts folder in /Library as well as in ~/Library.
Also, does Arial show up in her Font utility?

The fancy behavior is, that she can create other Power Point documents with Arial as well that other Power Point documents with Arial are showing correctly.
As much as I know. is that arial will be installed only through Office and is not standard by Mac OS X.
About the cache folder question.
I did delete all content of the ~/Library/Cache folder. So each program has to recreate its cache files. This si noct a problem, as often these cache files get messed up.
About the file in question.
The silly thing is, that inside this document, there is everything written in Arial, but NOT all text, where this font is used, will be shown.

No, she has no font management tool running and she also doesn't have deselected it inside the System Font Tool.
If she is creating her own document with Arial, everything seams to be ok.
