There are a trillion ways I can copy a stream, but what I need is to have it easily and simply let me schedule it (it's for a radio show).

I'm using the term "copy" because I'd rather just snag the stream as is. No desire to transcode.

Thanks!

I guess you either need a recording client with scripting (should have written scheduled recording) capabilities or at least one that is AppleScript-able.

How about WireTap Studio, Audio Hijack Pro or iRecordMusic? WireTap Studio and iRecordMusic both have schedulers...not sure about Audio Hijack Pro.

Thanks for all the answers!

Audio Hijack looks like it'll do what I need. I like me some Rogue Amoeba (already have Airfoil, Nicecast, and Pulsar), but is it a pipe dream to have something snag the raw stream without transcoding? Seems like big waste of horses.

If you know the URL and it plays in VLC, could you download it as is via curl/wget/fetch?

That has potential as well, but then I have to dick around with scheduling.

I can do that, but I imagined there was more potential this wheel had already been invented.

Snowtape passed its first test with flying colors.

Turns out the show I listen to (which is four hours long) is 82MB worth of stream, IOW, really low bitrate.

Without Snowtape I would have needed either to make a low bitrate transcode, which would have murdered the already horrible sound, or make a high bitrate transcode and have a ridiculously huge file generated five days a week, 365 days a year.

Thanks again!

Good to hear.

FWIW, I have not heard a single negative bit of feedback about SnowTape, ever.

Glad that it does what you need.

Yes indeed. White on black is such a strain. Moreover, although I instructed it to download to a specific folder on my Desktop, it did not do that, I have no idea where that download went, not to the Download folder.

If I understand it right, that setting is for a user initiated export.
