I am not sure on this one. Do you have these on your system.?
Library > Application Support > DivX > QtPlugins > codecs >
libqcncodecs.dylib
libqjpcodecs.dylib
libqkrcodecs.dylib
libqtwcodecs.dylib
Library > QuickTime >
DivX Decoder.component
DivX Encoder.component

I have the library Library > QuickTime >
DivX Decoder.component
DivX Encoder.component
i dont seem to have
Library > Application Support > DivX > QtPlugins > codecs >
libqcncodecs.dylib
libqjpcodecs.dylib
libqkrcodecs.dylib
libqtwcodecs.dylib
i have
Library > Application Support > DivX >divxupdater.
i wonder why the QT plug ins did not reinstall and why divx8 removed them if this is what is now missing
I wonder is there is any way to get just those components?
probably not

no go after reboot.
but I must give you a few Gold Stars for trying so hard.
anyway the other export components from EyeTV work fine for me. the divx.avi was for the PC crowd.
they will just have to suck it up if I cant get more help.
many many thanks. I would guess at least one person here must have the divx 7 qt components installed

Oh shucks…
Do you have EyeTV 3.1.2 or newer installed.? That's the first version to support DivX 7. If this is not an inconvenient for you, I would try to reinstall EyeTV on top of the existing application. Besides that, I fear I've run out of ideas.

I actually have Eye 3.02
and it worked fine with .avi export until I fiddled when I should have faddled.
with Dx8
I have and Eye 3.2 that I never installed. Ill give it some thought. I just dont want to screw up the Eye for something I actrually dont need but the PC crowd does.
but If I try Ill let you know.
I wonder is there is a way to find all the eyetv files and move them to another HD if the 3.2 install fails?

I have EyeTV 3.4. No problems under Lion even when elgato states that 3.5.3 is the first version compatible with Lion.
EyeTV installation is classic drag&drop, so I dragged it out to AppZapper to find out any associated files. I didn't remove it though.
From top to bottom -sizes shown for clarifications purposes-
EyeTV (158 MB)
This is the app located inside Applications
EyeTV (7 MB)
This is a folder inside your main hard disk > Library > Application Support
com.elgato.eyetv.devices (4 KB)
com.elgato.eyetv.devices.plist (--)
com.elgato.eyetv (8 KB)
com.elgato.eyetv.plist (--)
These are files inside your user Library > Preferences
com.elgato.eyetv (148 KB)
This is a file inside your user Library > Caches
That should be it.

your help is 'above and beyond' Ill keep this thread in mind once Im One with the Comp.
I upgraded from 2.5 to 3.0x and then added divxPro to get the avi to work. I recall it was somewhat of a hassle at that time, several years ago.
But when Oneness comes Ill try. I just dont want to loose the function I have now but some miss step then have to buy the current version which does interesting things but much more than I need.
many thanks again!

We're here to help.
EyeTV point upgrades are free. If your current 3.0.2. version works well enough for you, you will be able to move back to it even after having installed a newer version. Here is how:
After having upgrading to the newest version of EyeTV and while it is running, open your internet browser and type this:
eyetv://checkforupdates?build=xxxx
Where xxxx is the build number identifier for your current EyeTV version. You can find out this number by choosing About EyeTV:
Notice the build. That's mine. Should I need to recover my current version of EyeTV 3.4, I will point the internet browser to:
eyetv://checkforupdates?build=6145
Please note there are different builds for each point version of EyeTV.
So, take note of your build and write it down in case you feel like upgrading EyeTV 3.0.2 to the latest and greatest.
Albeit to me, in order to get back to an older version, it is even easier just to keep a copy of that old version of EyeTV somewhere in your Mac outside the Applications folder (just rename it like EyeTV 3.0.2 to avoid any confusion) and then to upgrade the EyeTV app within the Applications folder.
Hope this makes sense !!
If nothing works, which seems odd, tell your mates to buy a Mac, now that would indeed make sense.
