Hey!

I have several questions regarding the move from MobileMe to iCloud. My dad has an old .mac-email-account and wanted to continue to use his email address (when MobileMe was created, they simply gave him the same name with a .me-address, too).
He has Mac OS X 10.5, but the FAQ says you can continue to use the email service beyond June, 30th, even if you don't have 10.7.
So I just followed the instructions they offered and it says it is now configured so that the email address will remain even after June, 30th. (And there's a notifier that everything will be moved to iCloud.)

However - does that also mean he can keep the .mac-address, or only the .me-address?
Will the settings remain the same (the pop server etc.)?
Is it true that iCloud is free for basic things such as email, documents, small (5 GB) data backup?

Hope you can help!
Pete

I sure hope we can keep .mac addresses. Their website seems to say so.

When I upgraded, the text was pretty clear that i would keep the @mac.com address as well.

Yes, basic iCloud features are free.
The current Mac Pro is the most out-of-date Mac since the Macintosh Portable

@mac.com and @me.com addresses both continue to function under iCloud as they always have.

Hey!
Forgot to write an afternote...

I had to try for a while (still same problem: devices incompatbile with iCloud, no OS X 10.7, see... that might change in a few months, but now, so... Apple said it would work though!).

It worked when I changed the address which it shows when we send an email (so until now, it was a @mac.com- and @me.com address and I can still send emails to both, that works; but I had to change to the @me.com email address and it only works ever since. Does this make sense? It works perfectly now, even though there is only 10.5.

Thanks!
Pete
